How to migrate from HubSpot to GoHighLevel.

By Mike Petritis, President · Updated October 31, 2026

The short answer

Audit what you use, design the new system, clean your data, import a sample, rebuild workflows and reports, test next to HubSpot, then train your team and switch. HighLevel's importer handles core records, but automation has to be rebuilt. Most migrations we run are a 90-day process.

The steps

  1. 1

    Audit what you actually use

List your seats, renewal date, active workflows, integrations, and the reports leadership reads. Mark what can be retired.

  2. 2

    Design the new system first

Decide on pipelines, fields, custom objects, permissions, and whether locations or brands need their own sub-accounts.

  3. 3

    Clean the data

Merge duplicates, drop fields nobody uses, and confirm who has agreed to receive texts and marketing email.

  4. 4

    Set up sending

Register for A2P 10DLC before texting goes live, and set up your email sending domain. Fees start at submission, so plan this early.

  5. 5

    Import a sample, then everything

Run a small import and read the report before moving the full database. Check associations, not just record counts.

  6. 6

    Rebuild automation and reporting

Start with the workflows that touch revenue. Use the rebuild to retire anything nobody can explain.

  7. 7

    Test next to HubSpot

Keep HubSpot running while you test real scenarios from form fill through closed sale.

  8. 8

    Train and switch by team

Move one team at a time where you can, and keep support close during the first weeks.

  9. 9

    Back up, then cancel

Export a full backup before your HubSpot subscription ends, and time the switch around your renewal date.

What doesn't import cleanly

  • Imported emails are read-only
  • Notes can't link to companies
  • Recurring tasks aren't supported
  • Deals with no contact won't import
  • Calculated fields arrive as plain text
  • File attachments can throw errors, so check the import report
  • Some associations may not come across, so check your critical links
  • Deleting an imported contact and rerunning the importer can create duplicates

These limits come from HighLevel's importer documentation, which changes often. Check the current version before you start.

Why 90 days, when HighLevel says one to two weeks?

HighLevel says switching typically takes one to two weeks, and moving the data itself can be quick. The time goes into everything around it: designing the structure, rebuilding automation and reports, testing, and getting people to change how they work. A smaller company with simple workflows may need far less. We have moved accounts with as many as 600,000 records, and those moves depend on planning more than on the import.

Common questions

How long does a migration to HighLevel take?

Most Eliix migrations are a 90-day process. That covers mapping your data, moving it, rebuilding your workflows and reports, testing next to your current CRM, and training your team. HighLevel says switching typically takes one to two weeks, but a larger account with custom workflows needs more room to rebuild, test, and train.

What does a HighLevel migration cost with Eliix?

A full 90-day migration starts at $15,000. If you want ongoing help instead, fractional CTO or consulting work starts at $3,000 a month. HighLevel bills its own subscription and usage separately.

Do we have to sign a long contract?

No. We offer flexible engagement lengths, and we don't lock anyone into anything they don't like.

Who owns the work when the project is done?

You do. All work is owned by the client once invoices have been paid in full.

Does HighLevel import HubSpot workflows?

No. HighLevel's importer covers contacts, companies, deals, pipelines, stages, custom fields, emails, notes, and tasks. Workflows and landing pages are rebuilt in HighLevel.

Can we keep HubSpot running during the migration?

Yes, and you should. HighLevel's own guide recommends running both platforms in parallel for a while, and backing everything up before you cancel.

Will we lose our email history?

Emails can be imported, but they arrive read-only. Keep a full HubSpot export as a backup before your subscription ends.
